CONSTRUCTION

Cajun Constructors Inc. has announced that Todd Grigsby has been named vice president, director of marketing.

Grigsby has worked for Cajun in various capacities for 15 years. He has a bachelor of science degree in construction management from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Tulane University.

EDUCATION

President George W. Bush announced his intention to appoint Louisiana State University Boyd Professor James Coleman to the President's Commission on Ocean Policy.

Coleman is a faculty member in LSU's Coastal Studies Institute and is one of 16 academic scientists and ocean-related industry representatives appointed to the commission. He is a member of the executive committee of the Ocean Studies Board of the National Research Council and a member of the Minerals Management Service Outer Continental Shelf Scientific Committee.

He has received several awards for his contributions to the field of earth sciences, including the Russian Kapitsa Gold Medal of Honor in 2000 for his contributions to the field of petroleum science.

Ivory Toldson, a Southern University behavioral studies professor, bas been appointed dean of the College of Education. Toldson has been serving as interim dean since 2000.

Toldson joined the faculty in 1974 as an associate professor of psychology. He has served as chairperson of the behavioral studies department, worked as a psychologist at different hospitals and agencies, published two books and 18 scholarly articles, and presented numerous professional papers.

Roberta Kramer has been named Southern University's new director of planning, assessment and institutional research.

Kramer, who was the former director of institutional research and effectiveness at Delgado Community College, replaces Mohamed Eisa, who retired from the university last year. Prior to working at Delgado, Kramer was the director of institutional research and institutional effectiveness coordinator at Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Conway, S.C.

Kramer has a doctorate degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin.

FINANCIAL

Jackson W. Moore, chairman, president and CEO of Union Planters Bank, has announced appointments for members of the Executive Management Committee.

Bobby L. Doxey, senior executive vice president of finance and corporate support, remains the company's CFO and will be responsible for the financial group, technology and operations, human resources, government affairs and investor relations.

Robert S. Duncan, senior executive vice president of administration, legal and special projects, is primarily responsible for the UPExcel implementation and the coordination of merger and acquisition activity.

Adolfo Henriques, Southern Banking Group chief executive and head of commercial lending, is responsible for the Florida, Louisiana and Texas banking markets and will head corporate and small business lending, cash management services, and international banking, as well as other commercial subsidiaries.

Alan W. Kennebeck, senior executive vice president of financial services directs the financial services group, which includes trust and investment management, private banking, brokerage, insurance and sales.

Lou Ann Poynter, senior executive vice president of mortgage banking, is responsible for all mortgage lending and servicing areas.

Michael B. Russell, senior executive vice president of risk management and asset quality, is responsible for credit policy, loan review, compliance, audit and data security.

Steven J. Scheuck, Mid-West Banking Group chief executive and head of retail banking, is responsible for banking markets in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri. He will also head retail sales, marketing and branch operations.

John V. White Jr., Central Banking Group chief executive, is responsible for banking markets in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.

The executive management team will be based in Memphis, Tenn., with the exception of Poynter (Hattiesburg, Miss.), Henriques (South Florida) and Schenck (Indianapolis, Ind.).

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Southern University interim police chief Dale Flowers and interim deputy administrator Kevin Johnson have been appointed to their posts on a permanent basis.

Flowers joined the university police in 1995 as a patrol officer and detective.

Johnson began working at the university in 1990. He has served university police for the past five years, most recently as director of traffic and parking.

REAL ESTATE

Pelican Point has announced the appointment of Leah Wartelle as marketing director.

Wartelle is a licensed real estate instructor and real estate broker. She has nine years of marketing management experience.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

US Unwired Inc. has announced the promotion of Dianne Dasch to vice president of customer care.

Dasch is responsible for US. Unwired's customer care center operations, which include credit, activations, collections, customer retention and loyalty, and customer service.

Dasch attended Northeast Louisiana University (no the University of Louisiana at Monroe) and graduated from Mid South School of Banking in Memphis, Tenn. She began her career at the company as credit specialist.

She worked in management in the banking industry for 15 years prior to joining US Unwired.
