EPSON introduces Technology Alliance members; third-party companies work with EPSON to ensure open architecture compatibility with IT Systems

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--EPSON Monday introduced members of the EPSON Technology Alliance, third-party hardware and software companies working with EPSON to ensure open architecture compatibility for its point-of-sale systems.

Since the formation of the alliance less than a year ago, participation has grown to include 11 manufacturers of point-of- sale keyboards, monitors, cash drawers and scanners, giving EPSON the widest possible compatibility with off-the-shelf peripherals and components.

Following is a listing of companies that EPSON is working with to ensure that their products are compatible with the IT intelligent systems.

Retailers who are contemplating building a system based on the IT should get in touch with these companies.

Keyboards

Southwest Financial Systems in Burlingame, Calif.; Cherry Electrical Products in Waukegan, Ill.; Preh Electronics in Lake Zurich, Ill.; and Unitech in Los Alamitos, Calif.

Monitors

Elo Touch Systems in Fremont, Calif. (specializing in touch-screen monitors); Action Computer Technology in Pomona, Calif. (specializing in color and monochrome monitors); and ETC Computer Inc. in Fremont, Calif. (specializing in color and monochrome monitors).

POS Cash Drawer

MMF Industries in Wheeling, Ill.; and APG Cash Drawer in Minneapolis.

Scanners

Nippondenso ID Systems in Toluca Lake, Calif. (specializing in CCD hand scanners); and Spectra Physics Scanning Systems in Eugene, Ore. (specializing in Magellan Scale/Scanners).
