HTE Ships First Application Built Using Jacada Innovator
Business Editors
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 29, 2000
City of Kissimmee, Florida First Government Agency to Receive
Browser-Based Accounting System
Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure software, today announced that HTE (NASDAQ: HTEI), a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for public-sector organizations and utilities worldwide, has delivered its first application built using Jacada Innovator.
HTE utilized Jacada Innovator to transform and browser-enable its Government Management and Budgetary Accounting (GMBA)(R), a comprehensive fund accounting system. The city of Kissimmee, Florida has become the first government municipality to receive HTE's browser-based GMBA. GMBA is the first HTE application to be offered in the JavaLine(TM) Series; other products are now in development for release early next year.
The browser-enabled version of GMBA was developed with Jacada Innovator, a tool that transforms legacy, character-based applications to true graphical thin-client and browser-enabled solutions. Jacada Innovator transitions existing mainframe and midrange applications to thin client solutions delivered with Java, HTML or wireless graphical interfaces, completely removing the green screens and character-based data streams from the application. The resulting architecture enables enterprise developers to build and maintain graphical e-business solutions utilizing their existing skills and programming techniques.
The Kissimmee government will use the solution throughout several selected areas including finance, information systems, and end-user departments. The city of Kissimmee, located just west of Orlando, hosts millions of visitors each year and is located in the fourth fastest growing county in the United States.
"Implementing a browser-based solution reduces training time and provides much greater ease of access to the information employees need to do their jobs better while simultaneously providing greater service to the citizen," said Peggy Sousa, director of information technology for Kissimmee.
"Working with Jacada is critical to our success in providing governments, such as the city of Kissimmee, with the browser-based solutions they require," said Don Marcum, HTE's JavaLine Series project director. "Jacada Innovator is the only technology we know of that can rapidly browser-enable our extensive application portfolio, while enabling our developers to build new applications with minimal training."
"Utilizing Jacada Innovator, HTE can deliver the most competitive set of browser-enabled public-sector applications on the market to the city of Kissimmee and other municipalities and agencies throughout the United States," said David Holmes, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Jacada.
